The first inhabitants of the Roblin area lived off the land for thousands of years. When the railway reached the area at the beginning of the 1900s, many farmers and families from Eastern Europe settled in the area. In 1903, the first train came to Roblin.

The village was originally named Goose Lake, but in 1904 it was renamed Roblin after the Premier of Manitoba at the time.

Agricultural development led to rapid economic growth and by 1907 three elevators, a flour mill and a lumber mill were operating.

The Village of Roblin was officially incorporated in 1913 and became the Town of Roblin on May 1, 1962.

Housing

Roblin homes come in a variety of sizes, designs and ages. Building lots are available in a new subdivision. They are away from the busy shuffle of town, but only minutes away from the conveniences. Houses range in price, with most in the $50,000 to $100,000 range. There are also local companies that build \"Ready-to-Move\" homes.

Some homes are available for rent and there are new apartment buildings in Roblin. In total, there are approximately 110 rental units.

Roblin Housing Co-op

The Roblin Housing Co-op contains both one- and two-bedroom suites. This 22-unit, three-storey apartment complex has a multi-purpose room and meeting room, serving kitchen, furnished lounge and laundry facilities. Apartments are fully wheelchair accessible and are designed for for persons with physical disabilities. The complex has an emergency call system with central monitoring.

Acreages and farms of various sizes are available in the surrounding municipalities. Many of these acreages are in the very scenic countryside with rolling hills, lakes and meadows. Many small communities in the Roblin area, such as such as Tummel, Bield, Inglis, Deepdale, Makaroff and Merridale, offer a country lifestyle. Acreages and homes can be purchased or developed in these locations, only 15 minutes from all the services and shops in Roblin.

Maple Manor has 33 one-bedroom suites. Available to residents are a kitchen, dining room, three laundry rooms, and a lounge equipped with a shuffleboard table, television, VCR and piano. Meal programs are also available. Residents can enjoy the courtyard and garden space.
